São Paulo – Algiers International Fair, which is taking place in the Algerian capital up to June 4th, has already resulted in over 120 trade contacts for the six Brazilian companies that are exhibiting at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce stand. The companies participating are construction company Andrade Gutierrez, Promodenta, in medical and dentistry equipment, Tigre, of pipes and connections, Madêmer Madeiras, of doors, Alibra Alliance, of dairy and Biagio Turbos, of auto parts.
"Large numbers of people are coming to the fair and the companies present have made around 20 business contacts a day during the fair," said Filipe Gouveia Ferraz, marketing assistant at the Arab Brazilian Chamber. Apart from that, the event guaranteed 36 contacts for the organisation itself. "Brazil is already widely renowned as a supplier of food and civil construction in the country, but we also received demand for medical equipment and machinery," added Ferraz.
In the sidelines of the fair, Ferraz and the Marketing vice president at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Rubens Hannun, participated in meetings with companies and organisations in the country, among them Algus Corporation, a company in market development, and Nord-Sud Ventures, in the media sector, but that also operates as a consultancy for intermediation with investors in the country.
"Both companies help foreign companies to establish themselves in the country, translate documents and promote market studies. They spoke about the importance of participation in sector fairs that are not open to the public and in sector trade missions that are focussed on specific sectors," said Ferraz. "They also stressed the importance of company presence in the country, through representatives or local offices, after the fair," finished off Ferraz.
According to him, there are many opportunities in the sector of civil construction in Algeria, with an infrastructure investment project that forecasts the construction of 11 new ports demanding great investment. "As important as participating in the fair is understanding how the Algerian market works to improve participation of Brazilian companies in the country," he said.
Ferraz and Hannun also visited Algérie Presse Service (APS), the official Algerian news agency, which is an ANBA partner. On Sunday evening they participated in a dinner offered by the embassy of Brazil to Algiers in honour of the Brazilian businessmen in the country.
Today, Ferraz and the foreign trade assistant at the organisation, Nadia Abdallah, should participate in meetings at the Algiers Chamber of Commerce and also with the general manager of customs to better understand the country’s import and export norms and to obtain new contacts.
