Brasília – Spending by Brazilians during international trips was up 2.44% year-on-year in April to USD 1.524 billion, the Central Bank of Brazil (BC) reported this Thursday (25).
Year-to-date through June, spending reached USD 8.807 billion, down to 8.01% year-on-year. The reduction was driven by the stronger US dollar, which caused travelling abroad more expensive.
Expenditure by foreign travelers in Brazil amounted to USD 374 million last month and USD 3.076 billion year-to-date, down 1.2% and 5.07% year-on-year in April, respectively.
The resulting balance of travel ran a USD 1.5 billion deficit in June and a USD 1.15 billion deficit year-to-date through June.
