São Paulo – The government of Paraná, in southern Brazil, has been invited to join the upcoming edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM). The event on foreign direct investment includes an exhibition and a conference featuring specialist speakers. AIM is slated to run from March 24 to 26 2020 in Dubai, UAE.
State news outlet Agência de Notícias do Paraná reported that the invitation was made by the AIM’s regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Astrid Chedid (pictured above with governor Ratinho Junior), on behalf of the UAE Ministry of Economy. Chedid met this Monday (21) with governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior at government seat Palácio Iguaçu.
Paraná has been to past editions of AIM and is planning on using the platform to attract investment. During the meeting, Ratinho Junior presented an investment portfolio worth BRL 350 million (USD 85 million).
The portfolio includes road infrastructure projects worth BRL 290 million (USD 70 million). There’s also a BRL 40 million (USD 9.6 million) project regards the Foz do Iguaçu-Cascavel and Dourados-Paranaguá railways and a BRL 20 million (USD 4.8 million) project in public safety, including a Police City, penitentiaries, forensics and batalions.
AIM 2020 will be themed Investing for the Future: Shaping Global Investment Strategies. Topics in discussion will include SMEs, startups and future cities.
