São Paulo – Ports in the state of Paraná had 6% greater throughput in January as against the same month in 2012, according to a press statement disclosed by the Paranaguá and Antonina Port Authority (Appa). Last month, 2.85 million tonnes of cargo crossed the port, while in January last year, the volume was 2.7 million tonnes.
Of the total investment in January, over half – 1.59 million tonnes – was for export. In the same month last year, shipments abroad totalled 1.4 million tonnes. The highlight, in exports, was maize and sugar. Import, in turn, was practically the same as in January 2012.
