São Paulo – The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Machinery Builders’ Association (Abimaq) renewed an agreement in the last week of April to promote Brazilian machinery and equipment exports and strengthen Brazil’s image as a manufacturer of mechanical capital goods and a technology supplier.
The signing of the agreement continues the Brazil Machinery Solutions sectorial project carried out by the two institutions. In a virtual meeting for renewal, Apex-Brasil’s president, Sergio Segovia, highlighted the effort to strengthen the export culture of the sector, which increased the field of exporting companies, among Abimaq members, from 20% to the current 55%. The partnership has been ongoing for 21 years.
The companies supported by the project exported USD 2.9 billion in the last 30 months, according to data presented by Apex-Brasil’s president. Abimaq’s CEO, José Velloso, stressed that foreign trade has a pivotal role in the development and recovery of the economy. “After the most critical period of the crisis ushered in by the novel coronavirus pandemic has passed, the economic recovery efforts will largely rely on the foreign demand for Brazilian goods and services,” he stated.
