São Paulo – Petrobras announced today (11) that it has signed two contracts with Brazilian company Engevix Engenharia for the construction of eight hulls for oil platforms, for the value of US$ 3.46 billion. They should be used in the first phase of production in the pre-salt layer in Santos Basin, on the southeastern Brazilian coast.
According to the state-owned oil company, each platform will have a capacity for the processing of 150,000 barrels of oil and 6 million cubic metres of gas a day. They should add 900,000 barrels a day to national production when they are operating at full capacity. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013.
The platforms will be FPSO units, platform vessels, which produce, store and offload oil and gas. The construction will take place in Rio Grande, in Rio Grande do Sul, and 70% of inputs will be national.
The contracts were signed by Petrobras in partnership with BG, Galp Energia and Repsol, which are partners in the pre-salt areas.
