Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras informed last Monday (4) the reopening of the sale process of its stake in Petrobras Gás S.A. (Gaspetro). The state-owned oil company currently owns a 51% stake in Gaspetro. Mitsui Gás e Energia do Brasil holds the remaining 49% of the shares. The analysis and qualification phase for potential buyers will extend until May 15.
The sale of the stake in Gaspetro complies with Petrobras’ divestment guidelines, aiming at maximizing value for its shareholders.
Gaspetro owns equity interests in several natural gas distribution companies, located in all regions of Brazil. In 2019, the total volume of gas distributed was 29 million m3/day, serving about 500,000 customers through a distribution network of more than 10,000 km of gas pipelines.
