Rio de Janeiro – Oil companies Petrobras, of Brazil, and Total, of France, signed a memorandum of understanding this Monday (24) in Rio de Janeiro for exploration and production of gas and energy. Talks began early on this year, and the assets involved in the deal should be made public before Christmas. Under the deal, the companies will look into mutual interest opportunities in Brazil and elsewhere.
Petrobras and Total are partners in 15 other exploration/production consortia – nine in Brazil, including the Libra field and the Campos Basin, in a shared production scheme; and six in other countries, including the United States, Nigeria and Bolivia.
