São Paulo – Plastics industry fair Feiplar is expecting visitors from the Arab world. The exhibition will take place from November 11th to 16th at the Green Hall of Expo Center Norte, in the city of São Paulo. The event usually receives businessmen from the region, according to Simone Martins Souza, director of the Artsim group, which promotes and organizes the fair.
"We have had visitors from the Arab world in every edition. Our event focuses on oil products," says the director, about the products presented at Feiplar. According to her, Arabs come to know the Brazilian market better. The main transactions at the fair, however, are carried out between South American visitors.
Feiplar is focused on three areas of plastic sector: composites, polyurethanes and engineering plastics. The exhibitors are suppliers of raw material and equipment to companies which produce parts with such products. There are also some companies which display their own parts for engineering and civil construction sectors.
Composites are reinforced plastics. For instance, resin reinforced with glass or carbon fibres. The combination makes the product lighter and resistant at the same time. "They have high chemical and mechanical resistance," Souza explains. They are used in water tanks, bathtubs, the front and tail-end of buses, stairways and guardrails of oil rigs or frames for fertilizer, sugar and ethanol factories, race cars, aircraft, and other uses.
Polyurethane is used in the manufacturing of several products, from sofa foam, steering wheels, thermal insulation for refrigerators and mattresses, besides shoes, paints and coatings. Engineering plastic, in turn, has specific uses in products which need to have high mechanical and thermal resistances, explains the director at Artsim.
Souza explains the fair is attended by a public who is looking for advanced solutions in the area. This year the fair will have over 300 exhibitors, from those 40% are foreigners, hailing from countries such as England, Germany, the United States, China and Turkey. Over 15,000 visitors are expected. Both the number of visitors and exhibitors should be higher than in the previous edition, held in 2012, when 285 exhibitors and 14,600 visitors attended the event.
Feiplar also hosts a congress featuring debate about the sector. Exhibitors and specialists will deliver lectures on the technology for each of the three plastic segments at the fair and also on the technology of end-user industries, such as civil construction, automotive, and others.
