São Paulo – Garments from Rio Grande do Norte may now be seen on women in North and South America, Europe and even the Middle East. With some 30% of revenues connected to foreign sales, Matersol, from Natal, among the main highlights on the international market are the hand painted bathing suits and bikinis that show landscapes of the Brazilian state. The company, which sells to the whole of Brazil, aims to grow abroad in 2012, in a scenery in which the Arabs, together with other foreign buyers, are being targeted.
"Over the last two years, we started working on seeking international clients,” explained Déborah Sayonara, the administrative manager at Matersol. "Before, it was they who sought us, seeing our products while travelling to Natal, for example.”
According to the entrepreneur, Matersol exports started nine years ago. The company has been in operation since 1987. "We sell much to Europe and to the United States,” explained Déborah. Among the main buyers on the old continent are countries like Germany, Spain, France, Greece and Portugal. In lower scale, the brand has already sold products in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, in South America. In the Arab world, Qatar has been a client since 2010. "We are negotiating greater sales there,” she said. There and to other nations in the region. “The Arabs interest us much,” said Déborah. "When we sold to Qatar, it was all very peaceful, with no risk,” she said.
To win space abroad, Matersol should be present in further international events in 2012. Currently, two are scheduled: a showroom in California, in the United States, and a fashion fair in Paris, France.
Internally, the focus is mainly on offering novelties, like the fitness line, of gym clothes. "We released the products this year,” said Déborah.
According to the businesswoman, the brand has been growing in recent years due to its good modelling and to the great number of colours and prints offered, due to purchases of raw materials from different suppliers. “We want to have the greatest variety possible,” explained Déborah. Great care is taken with bathing suits and bikinis with tulles, embroidery and the famous hand painting. We make several models with pictures of beaches in Rio Grande do Norte, like Piba, Genipabu and Ponta Negra,” she said, always eyeing business while advertising the beauties of her land.
