São Paulo – Year-to-date through June, Brazil’s poultry exports to the United Arab Emirates grew 35.7% from a year ago, reaching 192,000 tonnes, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) said this Wednesday (10). “The Arab markets have kept a good product imports flow, with a solid growth to the United Arab Emirates,” ABPA CEO Ricardo Santin said according to a release.
In H1, total poultry exports were up by 11.4%, with 2.045 million tonnes shipped. In revenue, it was a 14.8% growth, to USD 3.406 billion.
“There was an increase in purchases from almost every large importer, generating a good exports performance. The international context of a high demand for meat is felt in several different markets,” said ABPA president Francisco Turra, according to the release.
The main destination of Brazilian exports, China purchased 22.6% more in H1 from a year ago, totaling 257,900 tonnes. The European Union saw a 21% increase, reaching 129,900 tonnes in H1.
June
June saw poultry exports reaching 386,200 tonnes, up 64% from a year ago. The increase in revenue was 76.6% year-over-year, to USD 639,600 million.
UAE purchased 34,100 tonnes, up 129% from a year ago. The country is the fourth destination of Brazilian exports, only behind China, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. Exports to the Saudis increased 215% from a year ago, to 44,900 tonnes.
