São Paulo – Qatar became the champion of the 2019 Asian Cup this Friday (1), beating Japan by 3×1. The match took place at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The victory is unprecedent for Qatar.
The first goal was made by Qatar player Almoed Ali at 12 minutes of the first half. The bicycle kick goal (photo above) jump-started the victory. This was the ninth goal by Ali in the Asian Cup, making him the top scorer in the competition.
Then, it was Abdelaziz Hatim’s turn to score for Qatar. At the second half, Takumi Minamino scored the first goal for Japan. Qatar, however, ended their goals with a penalty kick committed by Akram Hassan Afif. Qatar team had not suffered one single goal in all the Cup matches until the final.
Qatar will participate in this year Copa América, as well as Japan. The Arab country is also preparing to hold the World Cup in 2022.
