São Paulo – The city of Rio de Janeiro will host later this week the event Cultura Conecta: Museus e Escolas [Culture Connects: Museums and Schools] to take place at the Museum of Tomorrow and will feature speakers such as Josélia Neves, a professor and associate dean at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. Neves teaches at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the university in Qatar. A PhD in Translation Studies, she specializes in accessibility and is the author of publications such as Guia de Boas Práticas de Acessibilidade, Comunicação Inclusiva em Monumentos, Palácios e Museus [Guide of Good Practices in Accessibility, Inclusive Communication in Monuments, Palaces and Museums].
Cultura Conecta is part of the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (Mondiacult 2022) held by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Besides Neves, over 20 speakers will share their experiences related to museums and schools.
The panels will feature speakers from institutions in Brazil, Angola, Qatar, Canada, United Kingdom, South Korea, and United States. Registration is open on the event’s website.
Topics to be discussed include “Cultural Access: Plural, Attitudinal and Diverse,” which will feature Josélia Neves. Cultura Conecta is held in partnership with the Museum of Tomorrow and the project Experimente Culture. Since 2018, Experimente Cultura has taken vulnerable children and youth from Rio de Janeiro to museums for free, at first in the city itself and then across the world.
