São Paulo – Retail activity increased 3.4% in Brazil year-over-year, between March 2017 and February 2018, according to index measured by consulting firm Boa Vista SCPC. In February, there was a decline of 0.5% over January, with seasonally-adjusted data. Over February 2017, there was an increase of 5.2%.
The index began to improve at the end of 2017, after two years of continuing decline. According to Boa Vista SCPC, the decrease of the benchmark interest rates, credit expansion, improvement of income levels, decline of the unemployment rates, among other variables, impacted the index.
