São Paulo – The first edition of the fashion and design industry salon in Rio de Janeiro, Rio-à-porter, held in the sidelines of the Fashion Rio week, will be attended by international buyers from seven different countries, among them the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon. Rio-à-porter starts on Sunday (10th) and will continue until Wednesday (13th), at the dock of the city‘s Port.
The trade show should receive 169 exhibitors from all over Brazil to show their winter collection releases for women, men and kids, as well as beach fashion and accessories. A total of 3,000 visitors are expected, among them 450 buyers from Brazil and 50 from abroad. Apart from those from the Arab countries, the event should also receive importers from the United States, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom and South Africa.
From the Emirates, two retailers from Dubai should participate, one from K&Mak, which has shops in Dubai and Kuwait and already imports from Brazil, and one from Valley Dez, inaugurated in the emirate last year. From Lebanon, a representative of company Loft by Aspuces, from Beirut, is coming.
The buyers are coming at the invitation of the TexBrasil program, developed by the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit) in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
The exhibitor stands are going to cover an area of 8,250 square metres and are going to follow the same visual identity and standard as Fashion Rio. The business salon is organized by Grupo Luminosidade in partnership with Francal Feiras.
One of the novelties of the event is the data collector with optical readers for visitors going to each stand. Due to a bar code on the credential of the visitor, exhibitors are going to receive, 15 days after the event, a complete mailing list of retailers and importers who visited the salon. The event should include a cycle of five talks on theme “Brazil: Future, Innovation and Identity”.
To follow and cover the fashion week in Rio, Abit is also bringing a group of international journalists. Among the 30 plus professionals is a journalist from the Abu Dhabi Media Company, also from the Emirates.
Fashion Rio
The main fashion week in Rio de Janeiro begins on Friday (8). In the Winter 2010 collection, there will be 28 parades at Píer Mauá, where the event has been taking place since its last edition. The first brand to present its products on the runway is Auslander, at 6:30 pm. Closing the 16th edition of the event, Alessa should have a parade on the 13th, at 9:30 pm. The selection of Rio de Janeiro to host the 2016 Olympics served as inspiration to the theme of the event: "Rio, Olympic and Marvellous".
