Rio de Janeiro – Today (12th) at the Rio Centro exhibition centre, the acting president of Brazil, Michel Temer (president Dilma Rousseff is on a trip to China) and the minister of Defence, Nelson Jobim, inaugurated Laad, Defense & Security, the leading fair for the sector in Latin America. The opening ceremony was attended by the governor of the state of Rio, Sergio Cabral, and the mayor of the namesake capital, Eduardo Paes.
Every two years, the event brings together Brazilian and international companies specializing in supplying equipment and services to the Armed Forces, police forces, special forces, security services, consultants and government agencies.
The fair, which will continue until next Friday (15th), comprises delegations from 53 different countries. Items on display include equipment, systems, protection devices, shielding, simulators, aircraft, vehicles and military vessels.
