São Paulo – The 10th edition of the Rondônia Rural Show Internacional will take place from May 22 to 27 in Ji-Paraná, with initiatives for the internationalization of business and products from the state. Ji-Paraná is Rondônia’s second most populous municipality of the state and hosts the largest agricultural trade show in North Brazil. The annual show is held by the government of Rondônia through its Secretariat for Agriculture. This year’s theme will be “Sustainable Technologies.”
Over the years, the event is predominantly focused on agriculture and livestock but now includes other sectors, with institutional stands for the state secretariats, education institutions, and others, thus becoming a multisectoral event. Now it features an international pavilion held by Invest Rondônia, the arm of the state’s Secretariat for Economic Development focused on attracting investments.
The state of Rondônia has a population of 1.8 million people. Its capital city is Porto Velho. It’s the third richest state of the North region and produces milk, meat, soybeans, coffee, nuts, açaí, and other products. Meats and soybeans are its leading exports.
Invest Rondônia was created two years ago in a bid to internationalize the state by attracting investments and diversifying exports. For this purpose, the Rural Show showcases the state of Rondônia, and Invest is taking 16 representatives of embassies and international chambers of commerce, including the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), represented by Institutional Relations analyst Elaine Prates, to Ji-Paraná.
Besides the ABCC, representatives of the embassies of the United States, Bolivia, and Ivory Coast will attend, as well as the Texan Chamber, the Peruvian Brazilian Chamber (Capebras), and the Afro Brazilian Chamber (Afrochamber).
According to information from Invest Rondônia, the Arab countries have stood out in sustainable technologies, hosting events like COP27 (Egypt) and COP28 (United Arab Emirates), a sector of interest for the state. The show will have an innovation area where exhibitors will showcase sustainable projects.
The ABCC will present the panel “Arab Countries & Rondônia: Trade Opportunities” on Tuesday (23) at 2 pm on the main stage of the international pavilion.
The latest edition of the show featured over 500 booths, including public and private institutions, firms, service providers, credit institutions, and cooperatives. Last year’s show say BRL 2.6 billion (USD 500 million) worth in deals and 240,000 visitors.
Sectors represented in the 2023 show will be agriculture, livestock, fish farming, and integrated crop-livestock-forestry systems. The technological showcase will feature machinery and agricultural equipment, cars, banks, multisectoral cooperatives, and construction.
