São Paulo – Santander Universidades, an arm of the bank for the support of university projects, has its registrations open for an exchange student program for Brazilian undergraduate and postgraduate students. Qatar (pictured above) is among the 20 destination countries of the program, named Santander Mundi.
The initiative is open to students of 55 universities that have signed partnerships with Santander Universidades. Besides Qatar, students can go to Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Porto Rico, United States, Uruguay, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, England, China, Russia and Singapore.
The program has signed partnerships with 1,200 universities, all of them offered as choices for the students. According to the bank’s press office, to access the list of universities, students need to download an app, the App Universitário, and inform the university they are originally enrolled.
Registrations are open until July 11 and the program will offer 100 scholarships. The students approved will receive EUR 4,000 for transportation, housing and food and will study abroad for 6 months, with the courses needing to end in December 2019.
According to information provided by Santander, the selection of the students will be made by the universities themselves, prioritizing academically high-performance students and low socio-economic status. The public notices with the requirements are also the responsibility of the partner universities. The App Universitário is available for Android and iOS and can be downloaded from the website Santander Universidades.
According to Santander, the bank has been recognized for the Global Fortune 500 as the company with the highest investments in education in the world. The Santader Universidades program was created over 20 years ago and since 1996 has already distributed over 290,000 scholarships in 21 countries. In Brazil, the program has 300 partner schools.
