São Paulo – The city of São Paulo is launching Brazil’s filming attraction program to attract national and international productions. The initiative is a partnership between Spcine and the Municipal Culture Secretariat, and is supported by the Municipal Tourism Secretariat as it promotes the city. Spcine is the city-run film and audiovisual corporation.
This is the first time a filming attraction program with a significant potential impact is launched in the country. The program will contribute to cement the position of the city as an international film production hub in tune with other 97 national and local governments in the Americas and Europe such as Portugal, Mexico, United States, Colombia, New York, Madrid and London that use filing attraction programs.
Applications for São Paulo City’s Filming Attration Program will open on October 6 and run until December 31. The initiative comprises five modules with cash rebates of 20-30% and prizes of BRL 500,000 (USD 96,274) and BRL 15,000 (USD 2,888) according to the production category.
The program was established based on affirmative policies to encourage film productions committed to hire women, black people, native people, people with disabilities, and transgender people in leadership positions. The initiative also encourages the productions to adopt sustainable practices and carbon neutrality.
The notice can be found in Brazilian Portuguese and English on the website of Spcine.
