São Paulo – Last Saturday (4), the state of São Paulo government opened the public tender for the Northwest Section of the Highway Concessions Program. The concession predicts investments of BRL13.9 billion (about USD 2.9 billion at the current rate) in 600 kilometers of roads passing through the municipalities of São José do Rio Preto, Araraquara, São Carlos, and Barretos, covering five highways: SP 310, SP 333, SP 326, SP 351, and SP 323.
The winning company will take over the road networks currently operated by the concessionaries AB Triângulo do Sol and Tebe. According to information from the state government, there will be no new toll stations. The planned improvements are expected to occur following the guidelines of the Highway Concessions Program, regulated by the Transportation Agency of the State of São Paulo (ARTESP).
The public tender for the Northwest section is open to the participation of national and foreign companies, individually or through a consortium. The selection criterion will be the highest value of the fixed grant to be paid to the granting authority, considering the minimum amount of BRL 5 million (about USD 1.05 million), as established in the public notice. The auction is scheduled for September 15 at B3 (the Brazilian stock exchange).
Renovations and tolls
