São Paulo – The Brazilian federal government and the São Paulo City Hall will offer 200 slots in a Portuguese language course for immigrants and refugees, via Programa Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino Técnico e Emprego (Pronatec), the national program for access to technical teaching and employment. The lessons will be taught from February through May, 2016 and enrolment for the courses, which also include classes on Brazilian culture, will be open from December 3rd to 12th, 2015.
Interested immigrants and refugees must contact the immigrant welcoming center Centro de Referência e Acolhida para Imigrantes (Crai), in downtown São Paulo’s Bela Vista district. Classes will be taught at night at municipal schools in several neighborhoods. As many as seven basic-level Portuguese classes will be formed.
