São Paulo – Mercado Persa Brazil, International Congress of Arab Music, Dance and Culture, occurs in São Paulo from April 12 to 14. The opening in April 12 includes a gala presentation featuring the dance group that won the 2018 competition.
This festival was created to spread the Arab Eastern dance arts and bring together professionals and fans in one event. Over the years, Mercado Persa started holding other activities such as health and beauty lectures and workshops. The festival also includes solo, double, trio and group competitions.
The workshops occurring in day 12 includes “O que é o Tribal Afinal? (com dinâmicas de ATS)” [After All, What is Tribal? (with ATS dynamics)] teached by Rebeca Piñeiro; “Explorando os contrastes do Tribal Fusion” [Exploring Tribal Fusion Contrasts] with Mariana Quadros; and “Castanholas nas Músicas Ciganas” [Castanets in Gipsy Music] with Master Samira, creator of Mercado Persa Brasil.
On Saturday (13), there will be 10 different workshops. Themes range from “Evoluções Criativas com o Véu” [Creative Evolutions with the Veil] with Ana Claudia Borges to “Corpo Percussivo” [Percussive Body] taught by Jonathan Lanna. The highlight in the ending of the event, on day 14, goes for the class taught by Yamil Annun about the Egyptian style “mejance.”
