São Paulo – The São Paulo city hall has issued a public call notice and is open to receive concession projects for Pacaembu Complex, which includes local stadium Paulo Machado de Carvalho and the multi-sport Center. City hall’s expecting to receive studies for investment projects, new ways of use, sources for revenues and other ideas involving the concession or partnership in the management of the venues.
The public call is open to Brazilian and foreigners, individuals and companies. Registrations run until July 3. Currently, the management costs of both venues reach BRL 9 million (USD 2.84 million) per year.
“Our goal is providing the city with a more efficient and dynamic management model, that relief the Municipality costs and bring modernity to that important equipment,” said Wilson Poit, city secretary of Privatization and Partnerships.
After registration, the parties must submit their studies in 60 days, with a special commission designed to analyzed them. After this phase, a public consultation will take place, followed by the bidding round on the sports complex.
According to city hall, the idea is to receive studies for operational, economic, financial, legal, engineering and architecture modeling for the modernization, restoration, management, operation and maintenance of the Pacaembu Complex.
Priority will be given to those studies that point out solutions for spending cuts by the city regarding the equipment. The Pacaembu complex was inaugurated in 1940 and has an area of 75,598 square meters.
