São Paulo – Saudi Arabia will hold the Hajj Expo 2023 from January 9 to 12 next year, in Jeddah, under the sponsorship of the governor prince of Mecca, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. The Hajj is the pilgrimage that brings millions of Muslims every year to the holy city of Mecca and constitutes one of Islam’s pillars. In 2023, the pilgrimage will occur from late June to early July.
The Hajj Expo 2023 show, which will also include a conference, aims to build a digital ecosystem to help pilgrims have better Hajj experiences. The event will bring together international specialists to discuss and plan technical advancements, predict the needs of the pilgrimage, and create opportunities for partnerships, agreements, and initiatives at the local and global levels.
The Saudi minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, said 400 agreements could be signed during the show, according to a release by the Saudi news website Arab News. The event expects over 200 speakers and participants from 56 countries. According to Al-Rabiah, the conference will feature projects and initiatives Saudi Arabia plans to offer to pilgrims.
Expo Hajj will have ten keynote sessions, 13 panels and Hajj talks, and 36 workshops. The show will also feature events and activities linked to promoting a quality culture in providing services for the Hajj and Umrah, including the Islamic Exhibition, the Hajj Hackathon, and the Startups Area. Umrah is also a pilgrimage to Mecca, but it can be performed at any time of the year.
The conference will discuss various relevant topics to Hajj, such as logistics, transportation, crowd management operations, accommodation and hospitality, food, facility and service management, security, and medical care, among others.
