São Paulo – Brazil’s vice president and ministry of development, industry, trade and services (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin, will visit Saudi Arabia and China with a delegation of ministers and businesspeople in the coming days. The vice president boards on Saturday (1) aiming to strengthen ties, establish cooperation and unlock markets for Brazilian goods, according to a statement published by the government.
In Riyadh, Alckmin will have meetings with investment minister Khalid Al Falih and defense minister Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Appointments in Saudi Arabia also include meetings with businesspeople and investment funds to feature representatives from development bank BNDS, industry group CNI, trade and investment agency ApexBrasil, and industry development agency ABDI.
“Saudis have shown a great interest in investing in Brazil, and China is now the top destination of our exports,” Alckmin was quoted as saying in the statement released to the press. “We’ll have a busy schedule with officials, businesspeople and investors, and we hope to bring back sound agreements and business prospects for Brazilian companies,” the vice president added.
In China, the main focus is the meeting with the Sino-Brazilian High-Level Commission for Consultation and Cooperation (COSBAN), a trading instruments between Brazil and China that is turning 20 this year, as well as meetings, seminars, negotiations, and a business forum.
Delegation to Saudi Arabia and China
Besides Alckmin, other ministers making up the delegation are Rui Costa (chief of staff), Simone Tebet (planning and budget), Carlos Fávaro (agriculture and livestock), Wellington Dias (social development), Márcio França (entrepreneurship, microenterprise and small businesses), and Paulo Teixeira (agrarian development), as well as leaders of public and private institutions.
