Dubai – The regional office of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) in Dubai is seeking out new business opportunities for Brazilian enterprises in the region. This is one of the goals of the unit’s new head of executive operations, Eli Dauly, who has been on the job for three months and gave an interview to ANBA during the visit of a Brazilian mission to the United Arab Emirates to attend the Big 5 construction industry exhibition.
The office caters to the needs of Apex-Brasil in Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa, and in Iran, a non-Arab country located in in the Middle East. “There are still plenty of opportunities to explore in industries in which Brazil is already active, such as foodstuffs and construction. There are also possibilities in sectors such as cosmetics, fashion, furniture and decoration in countries whose economies are growing, such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates,” said Dauly.
Apart from economic growth, he said tourist influx is also increasing in the region and its population is growing, therefore consumption is on the rise. “Despite having a new management, we already know we are going to grow ties in the region and find business opportunities in tandem with the Apex-Brasil headquarters in Brasília. We are also holding promotional actions,” he said.
Apart from these initiatives, Dauly said Apex-Brasil’s regional office, located in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone, will continue backing up Brazilian companies setting up operations in the region, some of which have already gone international, while others are looking for information and support.
Before heading the Apex-Brasil chapter in Dubai, Dauly worked for a British insurance company in Canada. A Brazilian born to Lebanese parents, he was formerly the market development manager of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. His predecessor at Apex-Brasil was Sidney Costa.
