São Paulo – A seminar next Tuesday (03/04) will present business and investment opportunities in Jordan at the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo. The event will point out the possibilities for both Brazilian companies in Jordan and Jordanian companies in Brazil. Business networking is included in the schedule.
“The purpose of the seminar is to put business owners from both countries in direct contact, therefore, creating new opportunities, new ideas and new joint ventures,” said to ANBA the ambassador of Jordan in Brazil, Malek Twal.
The Jordanian delegation, representing the country’s trade and industry sectors will attend the seminar. The group, with about 20 people, is headed by the president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Nael Kabariti, who is also the president of the Union of Arab Chambers.
Ambassador Twal says that Brazil-Jordan relations are, historically, very good and solid, but that trade and investments don’t reflect this friendship. “Investments are almost nonexistent, and trade is minimum,” says the Jordanian diplomat. He believes that the seminar will contribute to change this reality, and to increase trade and investments.
“It’s a large delegation that reflects the genuine interest of Jordan in increasing trade and investment relations with Brazil,” said Twal on the group of Jordanians that will be in Brazil and will attend the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum, which will be held the day before (02/04) in São Paulo.
Brazil generated USD 223.6 million with exports to Jordan last year and Jordan had revenues of USD 7.51 million with sales to Brazil. Despite the modest numbers, Brazilian exports to the Arab country increased 453% in the last ten years, while Jordanian exports to Brazil climbed 79.2%, according to data released by the Arab Chamber.
The seminar should make room for the strengthening of these relations. The Arab Chamber’s president, Rubens Hannun, says that Jordan shares many interests with Brazil, among them sustainability and games production. Jordan is famous for converting games to Arabic and to the Arab culture and Brazil has a production in the area.
Hannun also mentions the construction sector as one that could be explored, since the country has been investing a great deal in the area, and he recalls that Jordan is considered to be a hub in the region and has a trade agreement with the European Union.
The Arab Chamber International Business executive Fernanda Baltazar adds that the Arab country is a cosmetics producer and has a strong pharmaceuticals industry, which could interest Brazil as an importer. In turn, the Jordanian market is attractive to Brazilian companies since it buys food products and import cattle. She says that Jordan has a safe environment for investments. “And it has a trained and young labor force,” she says.
Free registrations for companies interested in attending the seminar are open. Besides the representatives from the Jordan Arab Chamber, also attending the event are representatives of the Amman Chamber of Commerce. Both organizations, as well as Jordan’s embassy in Brazil, are supporting the seminar “Business and Investment Opportunities in Jordan” by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
