Brasília – The Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service’s (Sebrae) Estudo Sondagem Conjuntural survey shows a pickup in optimism among micro and small business owners. Those expecting the economy to improve increased from 56% in August to 59% in September.
Six out of ten of these business owners, or 58%, are planning to invest in their businesses in the next 12 months. One of the most optimistic industries is civil construction, with investment intentions at 65%. The survey saw nearly 3,000 entrepreneurs polled between September 11 and 18.
Sebrae chairman Carlos Melles (pictured) said small businesses are one of the drivers of the economy, since the income and jobs they create are increasing. “Micro and small business owners are confident in the future of the country,” he said.
