Rio de Janeiro – The Spanish multinational Endesa will be at the Rio de Janeiro stock market today ready to buy 15 million tons of carbon credits which it will use between now and 2012. This is the first direct purchase of carbon credits in a developing nation.
Endesa operates companies "Ampla" and "Coelce" in Brazil. It has over 2 million customers and does business in the areas of electricity, telecommunications and water.
