São Paulo – In a visit to Syria, Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce president Rubens Hannun and his advisor on Strategic Affairs, Tamer Mansour, met with the country’s minister of Health, Nizar Yazighi. “The minister called on the Arab Chamber to intercede for the reestablishment of the agreement between Syria’s Ministry of Health and the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital [in São Paulo] that used to send Syrian physicians to be trained in the hospital in the liver transplant field,” said Mansour. The Syrian-Lebanese Hospital is a leading institution in liver transplants in adults and children.
According to Mansour, Yazighi also said that his visit to Brazil last year (pictured, in the middle, at the Arab Chamber) was crucial to strengthen the ties between the countries. “He suggested that the Arab Chamber can encourage more Brazilian companies from the pharmaceutical sector to register their products in Syria’s Health Regulatory Agency to be able to sell Brazilian pharmaceuticals in the country. This agency is equal to Anvisa here in Brazil,” said Mansour.
The meetings attended by the Arab Chamber’s executives were scheduled by the organization’s director Sami Roumieh.
