São Paulo – The Arab Culture Nucleus of the Syrian Sports Club, with the support of the Arab Culture Institute (Icarabe), is going to exhibit documentary "A Portrait of Edward Said", which reports the life of the intellectual of Palestinian origin, at the Syrian Sports Club, in São Paulo, next Saturday, October (22).
Edward Said is considered one of the great thinkers of Arab culture of our time, mainly regarding relations between the East and West. He was born in 1935, in Jerusalem, and was educated in Cairo, the Egyptian capital. Said wrote 18 books, which were translated to over 25 languages. The intellectual died in September 2003.
The documentary, which was produced in the United States, counts on various photographs and interviews with Said. The exhibition will be open to the general public and admittance is free.
