At an automakers’ association Anfavea event, Brazil’s president said the country’s automotive industry faces the challenge of competing for markets in Latin America and Africa and should not leave them to parent companies.

Last month, sales in the Brazilian market were down both year on year and month on month, Fenabrave reports.
Brazilian manufactures association estimates sales at 3.05 million units. But exports are expected to decline.
Foreign sales amounted to USD 734 million in September. Shipped volume also went down, driven by weaker demand in Argentina.
Over 73,000 vehicles got shipped in April, with revenue coming out to USD 1.68 billion, up 37% over April 2017.
January through March saw 180,200 units shipped from Brazil, up 3.3% year-on-year. Production, sales and imports went up as well.
