The Arab country purchased 319,000 tonnes of poultry from Brazil from January to August and was one of the leading buyers in the period, according to the ABPA.
International shipments grew in volume and revenue in the first seven months of 2022. In July, however, exports declined. The UAE and Saudi Arabia were among the leading buyers.
The Egyptian market has been experiencing a surge in poultry protein prices in recent weeks, limiting purchases during Ramadan, a period when they usually increase.
In January, Brazilian companies increased their poultry protein exports to the United Arab Emirates by 96.6%.
Shipments grew 21.3% and revenue 52%, indicating higher prices. The UAE were the third major destination, with an increase of 66% in purchases.
Poultry exports from Brazil climbed in July. The three leading importers – China, Japan and UAE – stepped up their purchases.
Driven by China, Asia is the top destination. Africa’s imports increased, particularly Egypt’s, up 15% from 2019. Other two Arab countries that increased their imports were Jordan, up 18%, and Yemen, 6.1%.
Brazilian poultry exports were up 1.3% in shipped volume year-to-date through September, but revenue was down. Sales to some Arab countries increased.
