In a meeting on Wednesday (2), representatives from 40 countries and companies and organizations announced contributions to COVAX vaccine-sharing plan to widen availability of COVID-19 shots in poorer countries.
On the final day of the G20 Summit in Riyadh, the need to keep investing in vaccines was part of the agenda. “We are optimistic about the progress made in developing vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics tools for COVID-19, but we must work to create the conditions for affordable and equitable access to these tools for all people,” Saudi crown prince Bin Salman said.
