After sliding for four months on end, foreign sales of shoes from Brazil climbed in June over May. Year-over-year, however, exports are down almost 50%.

Foreign sales were down 9.5% for revenue and 8% for shipped volume. Some Arab countries stepped up imports, including Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Libya.
Sales to Arab countries slid 17.9% in volume and 20.5% in revenue in the four months through April.
Such was the amount from foreign sales of petroleum from January to April. Political instability caused a drastic drop in output.
The Arab country was awaiting publication of a ruling in Brazil’s Official Gazette so it could begin to sell citrus to the Brazilian market. The Arab Chamber will help promote sales.
The volume is not high enough to justify flying, and cargo was formerly shipping in the cargo compartment in regular flights, which are grounded in quarantine. Marine traffic remains somewhat normal, with some delay.
Arab country has opened up for cattle, sheep and goat meat. Negotiations were underway about the requirements of the International Sanitary Certificate for exporting products and whether Kuwait would accept the list of establishments laid down in the Federal Inspection Service.
Sales to China are still going strong, driven by more affordable Brazilian product. Mato Grosso state industry association Aprosoja has revised down its output estimate.
The month saw 3 million bags shipped from Brazil. Sales to Arab countries slid 15.7% year-over-year in the first quarter.
