A practice that has existed for thousands of years in parts of the world such as Arab countries and is recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, falconry also has enthusiasts in Brazil and is gaining ground as an ecological option for pest control.

Research shows the presence of two peregrine falcons subspecies in the country. Louise Mamedio Schneider and Erika Hingst Zaher analyzed the birds’ habits, dietary patterns, and migration periods to Brazilian states.
