Sector entities from Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Sudan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Algeria, Morocco, and the UAE created the Union of Arab Poultry Producers. The first meeting took place virtually during a specialized event.
The output in banned Brazilian plants accounts for 65% of the halal poultry exports from the country to Saudi Arabia. The Arab Brazilian Chamber reported it’ll collaborate in talks to reestablish the supply to the largest economy of the League of Arab States.

The Gulf country’s purchases were a highlight in foreign sales of chicken during October at 44,900 tons imported.
The Arab country has cleared imports of items including canned chicken meat, chicken nuggets, chicken sausage, and chicken mortadella. Egyptians are looking for alternatives to high-priced beef protein.
The Egyptian administration has authorized imports of ready-to-eat chicken products from 40 Brazilian meat packers previously accredited to export whole chickens to the Arab country.
Chicken meat exports from Brazil climbed 4.5% year-on-year in May to 399,400 tons, while revenues slid 17.3% to USD 546.3 million.
Brazil’s Agriculture, Economy and Health ministries released a guide for meat and poultry processing and packing facilities to prevent coronavirus infection among staff.
According to Brazil’s poultry industry association ABPA, halal-certified chicken exports were weaker in the lead-up to the holy month of Islam. Muslim associations federation Fambras also reported a drop in halal protein certificates for several countries.
Brazil’s ambassador to Kuwait Norton Rapesta told ANBA that goods from Brazil keep shipping to the Arab country.
Foreign sales went up in terms of shipped volume, but declined in terms of revenue.
As of May, warehouses and cold storage chambers will require halal certification. The change applies to Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The Tanmiah Food Group processes beef and poultry in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its plans include stepping up protein imports from Brazil and finding partners whose product can be processed at the Group’s facilities and sold under the original Brazilian brand.
