Despite Brazil recording an avian influenza outbreak earlier this year, 2025 is expected to close with an increase in chicken meat exports. The president of ABPA said the Middle East showed confidence in the country during this period.

With Jordan removing restrictions on the entry of Brazilian chicken into its market on Tuesday (15), there are now eight Arab countries with no restrictions on imports. The bans had been imposed due to an avian flu outbreak.

The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein released a note regretting Japan’s decision to suspend purchases of poultry from the state of Espírito Santo, where avian influenza was detected in a backyard plant. ABPA informed Brazilian industrial poultry plants remain free of any cases of the disease.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce released a note evaluating as “clear, transparent, and organized” the position Brazilian authorities and companies are taking in the face of cases of HPAI A H5N1 in wild birds in the country. The disease has not infected production poultry.

Another case of avian influenza was detected in Brazil, this time in Rio Grande do Sul but again in a wild bird and not in the productive sector; consequently, the country remains free from the disease. A statement from Brazil’s meat trade lobby ABPA and a Rio Grande do Sul poultry organization said exports stay as usual.
