The bloc announced this Thursday (24) six countries were invited to join the group as of 2024: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and Iran.

The president of Brazil defended this Tuesday (22), the opening day of the BRICS Summit, that in addition to Russia and China, the other countries of the bloc have a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. He also said he favored the entry of new members into BRICS.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, the bloc has received requests from 22 nations to join it. The BRICS summit will take place later this month in Johannesburg and be attended by Middle East leaders.
Several countries, including Arabs, have been expressing interest in joining BRICS. At the last summit, members agreed to open conversations on expansion.
