The output in banned Brazilian plants accounts for 65% of the halal poultry exports from the country to Saudi Arabia. The Arab Brazilian Chamber reported it’ll collaborate in talks to reestablish the supply to the largest economy of the League of Arab States.

Countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Oman stepped up their chicken meat imports from Brazil in January, even though the industry’s overall imports slid.

The decrease in Brazilian poultry purchases was driven by Saudi Arabia’s strategy of local production and the decline in tourism in Dubai, UAE, and religious tourism in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Katayama Alimentos is looking to expand in Middle East and Asia markets. It secured halal certification for its raw and processed eggs and opened an office in the UAE last October. To that end, it’s working with agency InvestSP.
The Gulf country’s purchases were a highlight in foreign sales of chicken during October at 44,900 tons imported.
The bird farming process of the Sadia Bio line has WQS and Certified Humane certifications. The first validates the non-use of growth-promoter antibiotics during the poultry breeding, while the latter certifies the use of goods animal welfare practices.
Brazilian poultry exports were up 1.3% in shipped volume year-to-date through September, but revenue was down. Sales to some Arab countries increased.
Shipped volume went up while revenue declined last month, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) said. Sales increased to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Shipped volumes of chicken meat were down 5.7% year-on-year in July, but China was a major buyer. Sales to all Arab countries combined went down, but Libya, Bahrain, Jordan and Egypt stepped up their imports.
The Arab country has cleared imports of items including canned chicken meat, chicken nuggets, chicken sausage, and chicken mortadella. Egyptians are looking for alternatives to high-priced beef protein.
