The United Arab Emirates stepped up its purchases of Brazilian poultry by 27.7% in the first two months of the year. Saudi Arabia acquired 8.4% more. Other markets from the region also stood out as Ramadan draws near, according to industry lobby ABPA.

According to the sector lobby, sales to both countries grew from the same month in 2022. Brazil’s poultry exports increased by 6.6% in 2023.
Saudi Arabia stood out as one of the leading destinations for Brazilian poultry exports from January to May, with purchases of 148,100 tonnes.
Saudi Arabia imported 119,500 tonnes of Brazilian poultry from January to April and was one of the leading buyers of the period.
Revenue was up 29% compared to November 2021, while volume increased 12%.
The Saudi-based food industry announced investments of USS 1.3 billion in farms and a new plant aiming to achieve leadership in sales of poultry protein in the country.
The Arab country purchased 348,600 tonnes of Brazilian poultry from January to September. Brazil saw an increase in both revenue and volume year to date. In September alone, shipped volumes declined.
Higher shipment volumes were driven by the fact the Arab country is a central distribution hub for the Middle East and Asia regions. General exports grew 8% in volume and 36% in revenue.
The Arab countries bought USD 5.2 billion in Brazilian products year to date through April. High commodity prices drove the results up, but Brazil has also shipped larger volumes of soybeans, maize and wheat to the region.
The Arab country took the lead from China as the main destination of poultry exported from Brazil in February. It’s the first time the UAE ranks first in the list.
The Brazilian Animal Protein Association made public some positive forecasts on the foreign market, despite increased production costs.
Last year, Egypt cleared imports of poultry-based products from Brazilian companies. Brazilian shipped 650 tonnes year to date but wants to extend their shelf life to sell even more.
The Arab country was the second largest destination of Brazilian poultry exports in August. Libya’s purchases more than doubled.
Saudi Arabian authorities decided to suspend the rule determining the shelf life as only three months for frozen chicken meat that hampered Brazilian exports.
