Tunisia’s food trade balance recorded a surplus in January, following a deficit in 2023. Rise in the price of olive oil exports drove the result.

The Tunisian food trade balance deficit narrowed at the end of June. Export prices were up for olive oil and dates, while import prices were down for wheat and maize.
The rise in Tunisian imports stems from the increase in energy product imports over the past eleven months of 2022.
The Arab country estimates a 7% increase in fruit harvest in 2021. The major importers are Libya, France and Italy. Tunisia grows peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums and other fruits.
