São Paulo – The commercial traffic of containers at the Tanger Med Port, Morocco, increased 10.2% in Q1 2017 in comparison to the January to March period in 2016.
According to data made available this Friday (7) by the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency (TMSA), the operator of the maritime complex, the port handled 765,647 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit).
The passenger terminal’s traffic went up 9.2% in Q1 with 412,250 people. The oil terminal handled 1.8 million tons – a new oil station was opened in March, which will increase the port’s numbers in this sector.
The commercial traffic of vehicles in the Moroccan port complex also went up: from January to March it handled 89,555 units – from which 63,688 went through Renault’s exclusive terminal, which registered an increase in traffic of 15.9%.
Meanwhile, the general cargo terminal handled 69,444 tons in Q1 2017, not including the traffic of cereals.
