São Paulo – Would you like to find out the top selling books on Amazon in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia? The world’s biggest e-company ran a list with the top selling books from March 2020 to March 2021, including the two Arab countries and Brazil.
In the UAE, self-help books are the greatest interest of readers, Amazon says. The top bestseller was Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life. Ikigai is Japanese for “reason for living,” and the book aims to help readers find out their purpose to guide their lives. According to the book description on Amazon, having a clear, definite ikigai gives satisfaction, justifies life and is the key to longevity.
The book’s authors, Spain’s Francesc Miralles and Héctor García, interviewed the residents of Okinawa, the world’s longest-living people, to find the key to a longer and more fulfilled life. García, a software engineer, has a Japanese citizenship and lived in Japan for over a decade. Miralles is an accomplished author of self-development books.
Readers in Saudi Arabia preferred a puzzle book, Brain Games for Clever Kids. For kids between 8-12 years old, the collection is an entertainment book created by Gareth Moore, who publishes puzzle and activity books. Brain Games for Clever Kids contains more than 90 puzzles.
In Brazil, the top-selling book on Amazon was the first volume of the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. Amazon took into account sales of books in every format as well as borrowed books via the Kindle Unlimited subscription service.
