São Paulo – The United States is going to ask for World Trade Organization (WTO) protection for their sugar market. In an accord signed 10 days ago, at the WTO, the USA, European Union, and Japan accepted to reduce agricultural subsidies. It was also accepted that each country could have a list of products, considered sensitive, and would be protected.
The US will probably ask for sugar to be included in the list, according to the United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Administrator for International Trade Policy, Jim Grueff. This news was published on Bloomberg News.
