Brasília – From September 1st to 9th, the Brazilian trade balance showed a US$ 1.319 billion surplus, at a daily average of US$ 219 million. Exports reached US$ 6.832 billion, equivalent to a daily average of US$ 1.138 billion; and imports reached US$ 5.513 billion (daily average of US$ 918 million).
Year-to-date as of September 9th (174 working days), the trade surplus stands at US$ 21.279 billion, at a daily average of US$ 122 million. The result is 78.6% higher than in the same period of last year. The figures were announced this Monday (12th) by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
In the first week of September, exports amounted to US$ 2.114 billion (daily average of US$ 1.057 billion). In turn, imports amounted to US$ 1.798 billion (daily average of US$ 899 million). The resulting surplus was US$ 316 million (daily average of US$ 158 million).
According to the ministry, in the second week of September, the surplus was US$ 1 billion (average of US$ 250 million). Exports amounted to US$ 4.718 billion and imports, to US$ 3.715 billion.
Year-to-date until September 9th, exports amounted to US$ 173.546 billion – a 31.7% increase. Imports grew 27% – foreign purchases amounted to US$ 152.267 billion during the period covered.
