São Paulo – Tunisair carried 252,356 passengers in June, up 26% from 200,217 passengers in June 2016, Agence Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported this Friday (14), quoting information from the airline itself.
Scheduled traffic passenger numbers climbed by 11.9% to 209,104 passengers, up from 186,944 passengers in June 2016. Another 1,134 travelers flew in additional flights, up from 699 a year ago.
Passengers on charter flights increased to 42,118 in June 2017 from 12,574 in June of last year. TAP imputed this to a rebound in tourist traffic.
Tunisair saw passenger load factor go up by 4.5 percentage points to 65% in June, according to TAP.
The bulk of passengers on scheduled flights came from Europe: 73.9%, up 12.7% from June 2016. African passengers made up 12.8% of total traffic, up 9.5% from 2016. Middle East passenger numbers were up 3.4% – with the region accounting for 11.8% of traffic. Finally, the carrier’s sole North America destination – Montreal, Canada – handled 3,145 passengers last month.
