Tunis – Tunisian jeans exports to the European Union reached DT 1.322 billion (USD 422.5 million) last year. The Arab country is the main jeans supplier for the Italian market and the fourth for the French market, according to the Ministry of Industry and Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises. Tunisia has 500 jeans manufacturing companies, 90% of which are exclusively exporters. According to the minister of Industry Slim Feriani, the sector employs 57,000 people.
Overall textile/confection foreign sales reached DT 707 million (USD 226 million) in January 2019.
