São Paulo – The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said this Wednesday (26) that its biggest events in 2020 will be held in Barbados (pictured), the Caribbean, and in the United Arab Emirates.
The UN agency’s 15th quadrennial session is taking place in Bridgetown, Barbados, and the World Investment Forum and the Asia eCommerce Week are taking place in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The host countries will be co-chair the events.
The UNCTAD Trade and Development Board approved the host countries bids unanimously this Tuesday (25), but the decision now pends approval from the UN General Assembly.
“The two countries’ agreement to co-host our main global gatherings next year demonstrates south-south cooperation,” an UNCTAD press release quoted secretary-general Mukhisa Kituyi as saying.
