São Paulo – Average occupancy rates across hotels in the United Arab Emirates rose to their highest October level since 2015, newspaper Arabian Business reported in its website. The average occupancy rate rose to 78.8%, in October with Dubai recording the highest rate of 80.7%.
In the year-to-date to October, the emirate of Ajman recorded a 78% occupancy rate, the highest of all the emirates, according to data published by real estate investment firm CBRE.
Year to date, hotels in Dubai, Fujairah and Ajman recorded increases in average daily rates (ADR) of 15%, 13.8% and 4% respectively. Overall, the country has seen its ADR increase by 13.6%.
Revenue per available room across the country rose by 44.9% year-on-year in the year to date to October. “With growing international visitation, an increasing number of global locations re-entering lockdowns and a number of planned events at Expo 2020, we envisage both international and domestic leisure tourism, combined with returning corporate tourism,” Taimur Khan, head of research for the MENA region at CBRE in Dubai, said.
According to the Arabian Business, the rebound in tourism comes as Dubai International Airport has also seen a sustained recovery over recent months.
In the month-to-date to November 21 compared to the year earlier period, Dubai’s percentage increase in the average number of daily flights was almost three times higher than the 33.7% increase seen globally. Whilst Dubai’s total flight and passenger numbers are still well below pre-pandemic levels, the airport expects to return to full operational capacity in the coming weeks.
